Kent Morton
- 4TH GENERATION
Kent Morton knows water. He is a 4th generation owner in the water and sewer business. Kent’s dad, E.J. “Mort” Morton, started his business in 1958. Being the oldest of 8 children, Kent spent many weekends and summers helping his dad in the business. After graduating from college in 1970 and marrying his wife Chris in 1972, Kent joined the family business and has been involved in all aspects of the water business since then. He is a two-time past President of the Iowa Well Water Association. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Onsite Waste Water Association. On November 1, 1999, Mort’s Water Company in Latimer was established as a full water and sewer system service provider, employing 18 people.
Brandon Morton
- 5TH Generation
On July 7, 2014 Kent’s youngest son, Brandon, joined Mort’s Water Company, making him the 5th generation Morton involved in the water and sewer industry. After graduating from Iowa State University in 2004, Brandon was a Kindergarten – 5th grade technology teacher in Waukee. Brandon then earned his Master’s Degree in 2009 from Iowa State University. He moved to Hampton, becoming a Technology Integrationist within the Hampton-Dumont CSD. His wife, Sarah, along with their five children, Charlee, Beau, Sylvie, Rocco and Jett, are excited to be in Franklin County where they are closer to home, family, and friends.
Justin Morton
- 5TH Generation
Justin, Kent’s oldest son, joined the family business on June 11, 2019. He is excited to be back in the family business full-time and is looking forward to working alongside his father and brother, along with the Mort’s Water employees and our current and new customers. Justin graduated from Iowa State University in 1998 with a degree in education and educational technology. During his 20-year teaching career, Justin taught 6th, 7th, & 8th grade science and literacy at various schools including, Colfax-Mingo, Nevada, & Roland-Story. Justin retired from coaching after 26 years. His wife, Mary, along with their two children, Maddie & Connor currently reside in Story City.
